Lead poisoning: a modern problem
As of 2013, 1 in 38 young children are believed to have lead poisoning.
The Center for Disease Control estimated that there were between
77,000-255,000 American children with lead poisoning.
Now, after they lowered the "blood cutoff," they estimate that
over half a million children in the US have lead poisoning.
A majority of children with lead poisoning come from poorer backgrounds; the houses they live in are more likely to have traces of lead.
Lead poisoning is even more prevalent in third-world countries.
